Xcel x CLOAQxDAGGER – Godspeed

If you love dope production, quality lyrics and that authentic sound of modern boom bap hip hop, them ‘Godspeed‘ the new project from Xcel x CLOAQxDAGGER is going to be right in your bag baby! You may have caught the single ‘Tylenol‘ but that is really only scratching the surface of an album that is heavy on the content and replay value. The overall pairing of Xcel with CLOAQxDAGGER who have really pushed themselves with the production on this one, is seamless, engaging and most importantly, make for high quality, entertaining hip hop.

The project is 8 quality tracks, any of which could be released on their own as a single, but when played as a coherent unit, give us a robust project from start to finish – and the finish comes too quickly, simply because we are digging this vibe. The production has been given a bit more room to breathe, has an airy soul / funk infusion throughout, while keep that dusty, grimey undertone that CxD do so well. Xcel puts in work on the mic too. His bars are quality and well thought through – there is no filler or bubblegum here. There aren’t a huge number of features either which really allows us to ‘get to know’ Xcel and what he brings to the booth. However, the features that ARE included are fiyah. Guilty Simpson crushes it on ‘Misfit Music‘, while Anoyd rips it up on the first single ‘Tylenol‘. The only other appearance is from Oblivious on ‘Parsley‘ and once again it is well placed, well delivered and a high quality addition to the fabric of the track in place from Xcel and CLOAQxDAGGER.
